Authentic Reviews

Authentic reviews are important to Influenster and our members. Each year, we send thousands of products to members to gather opinions, and our Review Hunt feature lets users share details of products they haven’t received from us. We want all our members to use Influenster to make better shopping decisions, and we want to make sure the brands we work with get real, valuable feedback on their products. Reviewing gives you a platform to share your thoughts and have them be seen by millions of people, so we’re looking for your own words and your honest opinions.

Why is it important to give an honest star rating and review?
 

Honest reviews build trust and credibility, they help other members make good shopping decisions and they provide valuable feedback to brands- which can lead to better products and services! Without honest reviews, the marketplace would be flooded with misleading information, which isn’t useful to anybody. Plus, star ratings can help members gauge the opinion of a product at a quick glance!
 

What makes a review honest?

An honest review is just your real opinion about a product, based on your own experience. It's not about trying to make the brand look good or bad. It's fair, accurate, and really zeroes in on what you personally thought. Our clients really want to hear what you honestly think!

How do I write a helpful, honest review?

Focus on specifics. Instead of saying, "This is a great product," explain why you think it's great. Tell us what you liked in your own words. If you had a negative experience, tell us why- maybe it wasn’t your thing, but it could be someone else’s! Influenster’s built in tools can help you know which parts of the product to focus on, and give you some pointers for writing your review.

Can I include both pros and cons in my review?
 

Yes, absolutely. A balanced review that includes both positive and negative points is often the most helpful. It shows that you've considered the product from multiple angles and provides a more complete picture for other members! Sometimes even a product you love can have a small flaw, and an honest review acknowledges that!

What shouldn’t I say in a negative review?

We want you to share your honest experience of the product. We expect members to be respectful and focus on the product and its features. We will not tolerate abusive or offensive language- remember that your review should be helpful!

Is it okay to write a negative review even if the product is free?

Absolutely! As long as it's truthful and fair. Negative but constructive reviews can be incredibly helpful- so stick to the facts of your experience and maybe outline some ways you think the product could be improved. Businesses definitely pay attention and care about your thoughts, so don’t worry.
 

Will positive reviews boost my eligibility for more products? 

While leaving reviews shows us that you’re an active member of the community, leaving positive reviews does not mean you will be more eligible for products from that brand or others. 
 

Can my review get rejected?

Depending on the program and the nature of your review, we might see it fit to reject the review. If we suspect that members are using AI writing tools or providing false information, the review may not be featured on the product page.
